Old trains never die......


Train tracks leading into the town of Uyuni. 

Uyuni used to be a distribution place for train going to the Pacific Ocean (Antofagasta and Bolivian Railway- built from 1888 - 1892). Mining companies used the railway to transport minerals. As they collapsed in the 1940-ties the trains were left to die..... It is a sad but also beautiful sight, these trains slowly turning completely into rust.....
