A detour (part 1)...

As the Uyuni dog says goodbye to us.......

Because the road between Uyuni and Potosi (Bolivia) was blocked by protesting people, the bus had to take a detour. This meant first going a long way up, halfway to La Paz and then somewhere to the right back down to Potosi. It would be a long trip, partially along dust roads. But the scenery surely made up for the discomfort of a long bus trip.

.......we leave for a another day into great scenery.
The Altiplano, yes it is enormous....
The Altiplano (altitude 4000 meters) is very interesting. The landscape changes while we drive on. I never get bored looking out of the window. With the camera on the "sports" button and trying to keep reflections out, most pictures are sharp. They help me keeping this trip alive.

Beautiful tufts of grass....

No lama's but sheep!

We cross or drive along several rivers on this part of the Alttiplano...

Basalt rocks... it is a very volcanic region.

Big cracks in the earth...

A valley, hills and mountains.

Another giant mountain in the background.

Then we see a railway station.... It is RioMulatos.

Rio Mulatos a quiet place where we will have lunch.

Knitting in the "high street"

The bright skirts are a full circle!!

Lunchtime.....

 We have to go on.....
Passing the church and some new houses.

And the cemetery....

Another landscape......

An old corral.

A mossy riverbed with large rocks on the side.

Just a shed, but so perfectly fitting into the landscape......
